I am a member of the Desert/Mountain Division of the League of California Cities ad-hoc Trauma Center Committee. Its purpose is to investigate our options for improved trauma service through the unserved goegraphically isolated regions from Acton to the Nevada state line.

Currently your only options are, weather permitting, Loma Linda University Hospital or facitities in metro LA, or, if you happen to be on the right side of the catchment zone line, you may go to Henry Mayo. We have been unserved since Antelope Valley Hospital opted out of the trauma center program, years ago, in addition to quitting service as a paramedic radio base station. This is an unacceptable condition for such a vast area. Representatives of AV Hospital, as well as our new Palmdale Regional Medical Center, will be approached for potential solutions - which always are rooted in funding, so our county, state and federal legislators will be brought in to this discussion, as well.
